Beautiful Vale…a city within a city. A peaceful quiet picturesque place to walk, jog or just go play catch with a friend just to escape the hustle & bustle of city life yet you are right IN the city of Sch’tady. So many beautiful trails to walk & the pond as well. The stones so full of history, a challenge to find the oldest one there, I dare you! Its a great place to just go and sit and read a good book, take a nap or just to go there because its so quiet and peaceful where time stands still.

Sadly though it is a dangerous place to go after sunset. Its true “The Freaks Come Out At Night” in Vale! How sad is it the mausoleums are NOT safe from robbers & thieves? Their windows & doors boarded up & locked to keep the inhabitants safe even after death. Safe from those who would break in & do whatever grave robbers & thieves do. Some break in just for a place to stay, imagine that? Such a lack of respect for those who have passed before them. A beautiful place that holds many secrets.

The stories that could be told if only the dead could speak. Vale, mysterious, beautiful, peaceful & yet as dangerous a place as it can be when night falls. The ghost stories over the years, some so believable & others unrepeatable! Still, it has a draw to its calmness & beautiful grounds. The aged head stones with all their history, what stories could be told :-)

You were RIGHT when you said it was a sanctuary because it is. There are tons of several different varieties of birds and other wildlife. Its a great place to do a field trip to sit and watch birds. As a kid we all rode our bikes in here and the paved road at the main entrance on Brandwine? We all rollerskated there up and down cause it was so wide and smooth. It was a great place to play hide and seek as well :-)

We fished in the pond and rode the hills in the winters on our sleds from the top of the cemetery to the bottom where the pond is. Its a GREAT place to explore and walk around in. A place of death that is so full of life, how ironic. Great video, thanks for posting :-)

I was there just last week and was sickened to see people walking their multiple dogs without leashes. Also, the amount of vandalism is appauling; in several areas there were holes in fences that clearly the locals enter at night. One monument had 10 or 20 little crack baggies and pipes at the base, very sad and very disrespectful.
